way church works
Saint John's By the Numbers

During the 2024 stewardship season, we are exploring the mechanics of our faith community and how each year church leaders thoughtfully and intentionally discern how offerings are used to create lasting impact. Our contributions are used with purpose that is deeply grounded in faith to structure our church budget, which includes our outreach and mission work.

Your financial support is part of the structure of the Saint John’s “machine” - an instrument with many parts that harness power to do a particular type of work. Our gifts, prayers, presence, service, and witness all work with the Holy Spirit to co-create a future with hope.

If you already give, please consider an incremental increase. A 1% increase from our membership would make a substantial impact on our mission and ministry.

Click on the button below make your 2024 estimate-of-giving, which we ask you to prayerfully consider.

We will give thanks to God by consecrating our cards in worship on October 29.

Thank you

Your Generosity at Work

Communion Rail Offering

Communion Rail Offering for September
World Communion Sunday

On World Communion Sunday, United Methodists, in conjunction with other denominations worldwide, participate in communion to recognize our unity in Jesus Christ. This universal and inclusive connection is the foundation of the special offering for World Communion Sunday. Donations support racial and ethnic students in achieving their goals and transforming communities. These funds provide scholarships, grants, mentoring, and training for leadership development in the U.S. and throughout the world.

On the first Sunday of the month, your Communion Rail Offering may be placed in the boxes located at the altar rail. All month long, you may also give to the communion rail online, by mail, or by placing an envelope in the offering plate. In the memo line, please designate your gift for “Communion Rail Offering”.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the “General Fund” offering?

Each fall, staff and volunteers of Saint John’s set the financial priorities for the next year through the general fund budget. General Fund offerings, pledges to the General Fund and other items make up the revenue for the General Fund budget. The budget provides the financial resources for adult, youth and children educational ministries, worship ministries, human resources, general administrative and facility expenses.

What is the “Communion Rail” offering?

On the first Sunday of the month, communion is offered in worship. After each person receives the communion elements, each person is invited to pray or meditate at the altar rail. If you so choose, you may leave a small financial token at the altar rail. Each month a different mission initiative is selected to receive the offerings gathered at the rail. The pre-selected mission initiative will be announced in the service and that week’s newsletter.

What is the Saint John’s Endowment Fund?

The Endowment Fund of Saint John's was established in 1976 to provide members and friends of the church the opportunity to make charitable gifts to a permanent endowment of financial support. By including Saint John's in your will or estate plans, you can significantly strengthen our church's vital mission both locally and around the world. Grants from this fund support many strategic plan initiatives around our community. Click Here to read our FAQs about the Endowment Fund.
