The mission of Saint John’s Mental Health Ministries is:

· To promote an understanding and awareness of mental health issues.

· To reduce the stigma of mental illness.

· To assist the congregation in finding help for those impacted by the challenges of mental illness.

Veterans 

  • Veterans Crisis Line: hotline, chat, resources for veterans and their families 
  • Saint John's Veterans Group: meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM (contact Al Lindsey at  ) 
  • National Center for PTSD: information from the Department of Veteran Affairs 

 

Children & Youth 

  • NAMI:  Teens & Young Adults: informational guides for teens and college students 
  • OK2Talk:  an online community where teens and young adults struggling with mental health conditions can find a safe place to talk. 

 

Substance Abuse / Rehab 

  • Al-Anon / Alateen: for families of persons dealing with alcohol addiction. (I modified the link and text)  Al-Anon meets on Mondays at 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM at the Wynona 5908 Youth House. 
  • Alcoholics Anonymous (AA): for persons dealing with alcohol addiction.   
  • Austin Clubhouse: rehab / recovery resources for those with severe mental illness 
  • Communities for Recovery:  alcohol & drug rehab / recovery resources
