Worshipping with Children- Worship Bags and Bethlehem Room
We believe that sharing the adventure of worship is a wonderful way for children to discover faith. At Saint John's we encourage parents to bring their children into the worship service. Children are an important part of our community, and their presence in our sanctuary is a gift. Please know that we are a child-friendly congregation. We hope that they feel enfolded in the love of God as they participate in the joyful work of worship
As you come to in-person worship at Saint John’s we want to make sure that you and your family feel supported and equipped for your worship experience. Worship bags will look a little different than in the past. On your first Sunday back your child will receive a bag filled with pipe cleaners, coloring pages, and other surprises. We ask that you bring your worship bag to and from home each week to worship.
Suggestions of what to add to your bag:
- Paper/Coloring Book
- Children's Bible
- Colored pencils or pencils (please refrain from crayons or markers)
- Pipe Cleaners
- Book for independent reading
- Pencil Mazes
- Finger Labyrinths
- Water Bottle
What to leave at home to preserve our sanctuary space:
- Play-dough, slime, anything sticky
We will have some “extra” bags to borrow if your child forgets theirs. Please leave borrowed bags in the container labeled “worship bags” at the back of the church on your way out the door.
Our "Bethlehem Room," located adjacent to the sanctuary, offers a place for parents to worship while attending to infants in a quiet, sound-proof room. We ask that you help us maintain a worshipful environment in this space.
