For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. ~ Romans 12:4-5
As we read the scripture above, we are reminded that the early church was structured by Paul and the followers to glorify God by working together in Christ. Our 2024 stewardship campaign, The Way Church Works: Spiritual Mechanics, explores the nuts and bolts of the Saint John’s “machine.” We are examining how we are led to build community, expanding our reach and mission as we look at how the church’s system runs.
During this stewardship season, we are exploring the mechanics of our faith community and how each year church leaders thoughtfully and intentionally discern how offerings are used to create lasting impact. Our contributions are used with purpose that is deeply grounded in faith to structure our church budget, which includes our outreach and mission work.
Your financial support is part of the structure of the Saint John’s “machine” - an instrument with many parts that harness power to do a particular type of work. Our gifts, prayers, presence, service, and witness all work with the Holy Spirit to co-create a future with hope.
Your giving is an essential part of keeping the innovation, creativity, and faithfulness alive so we may thrive in the years to come. These spiritual mechanics are our work in this community together.
If you already give, please consider an incremental increase. A 1% increase from our membership would make a substantial impact on our mission and ministry.
Sermons throughout October are examining these spiritual mechanics: membership, Methodism, missions, and me.

We will give thanks to God by consecrating our cards in worship on October 29.
