Plant of the Week: Sotol

Hello, SJUMC! My name is Sotol but I’m also known as Desert Spoon or Desert Candle. I love lots of sun so I was planted to catch the hot western sun in the SJUMC Pollinator Garden. I do have tough, spiney leaves which have been used for mats, baskets, and thatching. Deer do not like me — go figure! I do grow flower spikes as high as 10 feet which attract hummingbirds. I require very little water. Come on by and admire me sometime!
