Plant of the Week: Inland Sea Oats

Plant of the Week: Inland Sea Oats

Hello SJUMC! My name is Inland Sea Oats and I am proud to be a native Texas grass that provides seeds and nesting material for birds as well as being a host for the larvae of four Texas skipper butterflies! I am known for my large oat-like flower spikelets that drape gracefully from my arching branches. I am very low maintenance and can spread quickly, reaching up to 2 feet high. You will notice how much I’ve grown since I was planted around Eastertime. Already, my seedheads are swaying in the Texas breeze. Let’s meet and have a get-acquainted visit soon!
