Plant of the Week: Gregg’s Mistflower
Hello SJUMC! Please let me introduce myself. I am Gregg’s Mistflower and proud to be one of those native perennial plants that help Mother Earth by attracting lots of pollinators. If I say so myself, I am gorgeous — growing up to 2 feet tall and sporting clusters of small, purple-blue flowers that are magnets for many bees and butterflies — especially my friends, the Queen butterflies, in the fall. From March through November, I show off my blooms for all to enjoy. Please plant me in the sun to part shade; I like medium water use and I spread easily. And I love having some organic leaf mulch or compost around my feet. You can find me with some of my buddies in the new SJUMC pollinator garden at the front of the church. Come by and say “howdy” sometime! I’m wearing a name tag just like you do.
