Saint John's UMC and the Risk-taking, Mission, and Service Committee will present information and insights about Casa Marianella as part of the "Who Are Our Neighbors?", fifth Sunday speaker series. This event is scheduled from 12:30 pm to 1:15 pm on January 29 in the Great Hall. Lunch is available for those who indicate that preference.
Executive Director Jennifer Long will provide more details about this wonderful nonprofit organization. Ms. Long writes, "For 37 years, Casa Marianella has provided shelter and support services so that people seeking safety in this country can get on their feet and thrive. This summer Casa Marianella opened its tenth house, a shelter for two-parent families and single fathers with children. We serve 150 people per night and resettle 500 people per year. Casa Marianella depends completely on the support of the Austin community and is grateful for the opportunity to do this work."
