Saint John's is a vital congregation in mid-town Austin seeking to create a community where God’s love changes people and God’s people change the world. We desire to know and serve God through exploring our faith in worship, study, serving, and friendship. We understand the gospel as leading us first and foremost to those in need of hope and healing.

Many who didn’t think they could be comfortable in a church are finding a place at Saint John’s. Our hope is that you’ll join us for Sunday worship soon. The door is always open

Ash Wednesday services

Join us in the Sanctuary at either noon or 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 for a service of reflection and imposition of ashes as we begin the season of Lent.

Commuter Mission Trip - March 29-31

Saint John's Risk-taking Mission and Service is introducing a relatively new concept of adult mission trip. From March 29-31, a group will work on some of the fired-damaged homes of the working poor and underinsured of nearby Bastrop. On that Thursday, Friday and Saturday, team members will "commute" to Bastrop, leaving the church by 7:30 a.m. and returning by 6 p.m.. Work will consist of bed and tape, sanding, texture and painting and other light construction jobs. Training provided. You may invite others, but all will have to register and have necessary forms completed (insurance, etc.). Some youth may be able to help, depending on the project. Sign up for all three days or even a single day. You may also provide financial support, meals, etc. Contact Mike Renquist at mgrenquist@sbcglobal.net or 512-663-9868 for more information.

Dinners of 8

Have you been looking for a way to get to know other St. John’s members better? Do you love dinner parties? If so, this program is for you. Dinners of 8 involves eating dinner in groups of eight people, four pairs, approximately once a month for four months. The pairs are rotated to dine with different people each time. Each month one of the pairs is assigned to be the “host” for that month and decides whether to hold the dinner at their house or to eat out. If dining at home, the host is responsible for the main dish. The others are assigned to bring vegetables, salad and bread, and desserts, depending on their rotation cycle. If dining out, the host chooses the location and each party pays their own way. The dinner dates are February 25, March 24, April 21, and May 19. You can sign up as a pair or as a single to be matched with someone else. You can also sign up as an alternate in the event a participant can’t attend one of the dinners. Once sign-up is complete you will receive a packet of information that details your rotation format. Sign up by February 5th in the Gallery or contact Kerri Rowland by phone 467-2589, or e-mail kerrirowland@gmail.com. Bon Appetit!

Reconciling Ministries Team

The Reconciling Ministries Team (RM Team) at Saint John's was formed in November 2010 by a group of Saint John’s members who wanted to raise awareness about Reconciling Ministries at our church. We currently have 7 active RM Team members and many RM Team Friends in our congregation. We host in-home story-sharing parties and educational events at church including book studies, speakers and movies. Click here to visit our home page.
