United Methodist Women

Celebrating 66 years of mission to women, children, and youth

Our Official Purpose
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive sisterhood; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Our Purpose Translated Into Action
We get together once a month to help women, children, and youth. We work at the Montopolis Friendship Community Center sorting and selling items for citizens of East Austin, sew and fill school bags for children in Haiti, gather UMCOR health kits for victims of earthquakes and tornadoes, make blankets, layettes, birthing kits for babies born in third-world countries, knit caps for newborns, lobby our state legislature on such causes as PAYDAY/CAR TITLE loans with unreasonable terms and high interest, visit and sing at nursing homes, advocate funding for public schools, visit incarcerated women, hold an annual garage sale to fund missions, support the Reconciling Ministry Network of the UMC, and have fun Christmas parties in December.

For more information, please contact UMW President Emma Lea Mayton at
