What Do We Have For Adults?

WOMEN

UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (UMW)
This group provides opportunity for women of all ages to learn about local and worldwide mission and to participate in "hands-on" outreach activities while making friendships in small and large group settings.

General gatherings (Unit Meetings) occur four times a year, two during the day and two at night. You don't have to be a member to attend a unit meeting. Food and fellowship are always abundant!

Small groups, called Circles, meet monthly—some in the daytime and some in the evening—for programs, study, fellowship, and mission projects. Mission projects can be a simple as collecting needed items for emergency situations (like hurricanes), Knitted capsbackpacks for children, or requested items from shelters or support groups. UMW also supports larger mission outreach projects, like Montopolis Friendship Community Center in southeast Austin, including special projects such as knitting caps for kids in the Montopolis neighborhood.

Additional programs are offered throughout the year to spread knowledge and awareness about physical and political conditions in our country and others that often make it economically difficult for women and children.

THE WALK TO EMMAUS
This three-day retreat is an ecumenical short course in Christianity that seriously considers the model of Christ's servanthood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all." After the weekend experience, participants continue to support one another by meeting together in small groups. Men and women attend separate weekends.
