What Do We Have For Adults?
MEN
MEN'S MINISTRY / UNITED METHODIST MEN (UMM)
The purpose of the Men's Ministry at Saint John's UMC is to get men involved in the church by providing activities that will interest many age groups and personalities. Getting men involved in the church will help men better know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually, and seek to do His will on a daily basis.
The Men's Ministry holds monthly breakfasts at the church (Saturday mornings), ushers every fourth Sunday, and performs various mission activities such as cooking dinners for the homeless families hosted by Saint John's through the IHN program, doing repair and cleanup work around the church, and helping with the ARCH homeless men's clothing closet.
We also provide monetary donations to Boy Scouts, the Society of Saint Andrew, UMCOR, and other worthwhile ministries.
The Men's Ministry at Saint John's is in the process of expanding and is planning to add additional small study and fellowship groups, fun activities such as trips to sporting events, and additional mission work. These are just a few ideas for the future.
In addition, the Men's Ministry is formally chartered through the National United Methodist Men's (UMM) organization, and several men are individual members of the National UMM's organization through the Every Man Shares (EMS) program. Come join us! Contact Paul Mollenhauer with questions.
THE WALK TO EMMAUS
This three-day retreat is an ecumenical short course in Christianity that seriously considers the model of Christ's servanthood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all."
After the weekend experience, participants continue to support one another by meeting together in small groups. Men and women attend separate weekends. For further information, go to Greater Austin Emmaus Community, Southwest Texas Conference Walk to Emmaus and Upper Room Ministries
